This week, IPAA submitted joint comments in response to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s announcement to review and possible revise the Candidate Conservation Agreements with Assurances (CCAAs) Policy and CCAAs Regulations. The associations note the Service should continue its support for CCAAs, but withdraw and revise the current CCAA policy and regulations in place to encourage additional participation by owners of private property and by entities in the private sector proposing projects for economic and resource development. Revising the regulations and the CCAA Policy will in turn encourage private landowners and project proponents to propose terms for conservation agreements for the Service’s review and approval, supporting conservation of species and their habitat.
