A comment period is currently open for the diamond darter, a fish that currently occurs within the portion of the Elk River below Sutton Dam in Kanawha and Clay Counties, West Virginia. Last year, IPAA endorsed the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s comments on the proposed endangered status and critical habitat designation of the species, noting the impact a federal listing would have on local businesses and energy development in the region.
